Health Tips

Weight of the backpack
A backpack that weighs more that 10 percent of your child's body weight, put unnecessary strain on his or her back. Heavy books be left at school.

Position of backpack
Lugging the backpack around by one strap causes the weight to shift to one side, leading to neck and muscle spasms, as well as low-back pain.

Content distribution
A backpack with individualized compartments helps in distributing the contents and weight more evenly.

Design of the backpack
The bigger backpack, the more your child will carry and the heavier the backpack will be.

Wide, padded, adjustable straps are very important. Straps that are too loose can cause the backpack to dangle uncomfortably and cause spinal misalignment and pain.

Chiropractic Care Can Help...
If your child experiences any back pain or discomfort, call your doctor of chiropractic. In addition to chiropractic treatment, chiropractor can prescribe exercises designed to help children develop strong muscles, along with instruction in good nutrition, posture and sleeping habits.
