Introduction

Shanghai East International Medical Center (SEIMC) is a foreign joint venture hospital and clinic developed by China partner Shanghai East Hospital and U.S. partner U.S. Healthcare Management Enterprises, Inc., a California-based healthcare organization, and is the first foreign healthcare enterprise in Shanghai to receive a comprehensive hospital license from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Health in Beijing.

 
Dr. Beng Lin Liam (Singapore)
General Practitioner

Dr. Beng Lin, Liam joined the staff of Shanghai East International Medical Center in August 2011. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 1984. Since graduation he has trained and practiced in General Practice /Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine in Singapore after obtaining a diploma in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom and training as a Fellow in Pulmonary Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio USA. Dr. Liam has training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as well as Advanced Trauma Life Support (Instructor).

His previous clinical appointments include Visiting Consultant at the National University Hospital (until 2007) before coming over to Shanghai where he was previously VP Medical Services for Parkway Health and later Medical Director for Healthway China.

Dr Liam has deployed for humanitarian medical missions for earthquake relief, the 1991 Gulf War and commanded the Singapore component of the Australian-Singapore Hospital during INTERFET operations in East Timor 1999, holding various medical and command appointments in the Singapore Armed Forces before retiring as a Colonel in 2006. He has been awarded operational service medals by UK, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Singapore, as well as a Public Administration Medal by Singapore for his contribution to Singapore¡¯s efforts in overcoming the SARS epidemic in 2002.

Dr. Liam is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

 
Dr. Vivian Wang (China)
Internal Medicine, Endocrine, Senior Attending Physician

Dr. Vivian Wang has worked as a physician for more than 10 years, after having received her medical degree from Shanghai Second Medical University. She is a member of the Shanghai Medical Association.

Dr. Wang works as an integral part of our medical team providing medical care in coordination with the medical center's general and family practitioners. Dr. Wang has a broad range of experience with special interest in Obesity and Diabetes. She is active in the Center's Health Screening Preventive Medical Program.

Dr. Wang's empathetic approach is appreciated by our patients. She is bilingual (English & Chinese) who enjoys her family life, traveling, gardening, reading, listening to pop music, and rearing fish.

 
Dr. Charis Coniejos-Garcia (Philippines)
General Practitioner

Dr. Garcia finished Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology as a Pre-Medical preparatory course in 1989. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Cebu Doctors¡¯ College of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines in 1993 and became a full-fledged licensed Physician in 1994.

Dr. Garcia worked as a General Practitioner for 2 years in the Philippines before she entered Internal Medicine Residency Training in Cebu Doctors¡¯ Hospital in 1998 and became Board certified in 2002 by the Philippine Specialty Board in Internal Medicine. She is a Diplomate and Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians. She underwent Hematology Fellowship Training at St. Luke¡¯s Medical Center in the Philippines. She subsequently engage in Private Practice as a Consultant-Internist in Tagum City, Philippines in 2004-2007. She left her private practice in the Philippines and worked as a Consultant in Internal Medicine in ADK Hospital in Male, Republic of Maldives in 2007and transferred to Saudi Aramco ¨C Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2008-2010 as a Ward Physician in Oncology / Internal Medicine. She is BLS and ACLS certified.

Dr. Garcia loves listening to pop and classical music, which she enjoys sharing with her husband and dogs.

Dr Jerry Tian practice includes emergency medicine, family medicine and pediatrics. He is also experienced in appendectomy, cholecystectomy and hernia repairing surgeries.

Dr Jerry Tian is married with a son and he loves reading ancient Chinese history books.
