Shanghai East International Medical Center (SEIMC) is a foreign joint venture hospital and clinic developed by China partner Shanghai East Hospital and U.S. partner U.S. Healthcare Management Enterprises, Inc., a California-based healthcare organization, and is the first foreign healthcare enterprise in Shanghai to receive a comprehensive hospital license from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Health in Beijing. |

Dr. J. Howard Grey (Australia)
Medical Director, General Practitioner Dr. Howard Grey came to Shanghai East International Medical Center in November 2003. He has had a long and interesting career in Australia during which he has trained and practiced in General Practice as well as a variety of specialty areas.
Dr. Grey graduated in Medicine from Monash University, Melbourne Australia, in 1970. He completed post graduate obstetrics qualifications from London in 1979. For several years after graduation, Dr. Grey did hospital training in Tasmania and Western Australia. In 1973 he joined a multi-disciplinary group practice in a provincial county town in South Eastern Australia, and practiced general practice, obstetrics, anesthetics and surgery for over 6 years. In 1979 he moved to a remote county town and practiced all facets of solo general practice for the next 16 years. In 1995 he moved to Melbourne and joined a large general practice as Medical Director.
Dr. Grey has traveled extensively all over the world. He has practiced in Bahrain & Bangladesh, has been a flying doctor as well as a ship's surgeon. He is on the Principal List of the General Medical Council of Great Britain. He has a commercial pilot's license and a multi engine command instrument rating. In 1990 he completed a solo round the world flight in a Piper Aztec. He is also interested in extreme 4WD in very remote areas.
Dr. Grey shares his career and world travel with his wife Josephine. They have a son and 2 daughters. We are proud to have Dr. Grey on our team! |

Dr. Philip K.H. Wong (U.S.)
Family Practice
Dr. Philip Wong has joined the team of Shanghai East International Medical Center in the fall of 2007 in the area of General Medicine & Family Practice. He comes to Shanghai after 22 years of both practice and teaching of residents and medical students in the USA.
Dr. Wong was born and raised in Hong Kong where he attended the University of Hong Kong Medical School and practiced medicine for a short while. In 1980 he went to the United States where he completed his residency in Family Practice at Cook County Hospital of Chicago, Illinois in 1983.
After a brief return to Hong Kong as the Senior Family Physician at the Evangel Hospital, Dr. Wong took teaching positions in Wisconsin and Illinois, USA in Family Practice residency programs.
Since 1997, Dr. Wong has been a family physician Faculty member and Director of Geriatric Education at the Provident Hospital of Cook County and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Loyola University, Chicago, USA.
Dr. Wong is Board Certified in Family Practice and Geriatrics. He speaks Mandarin and Cantonese, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team of SEIMC.
Dr. Wong is joined by his wife and 2 children in Shanghai and also has 2 children in the United States attending University. While adjusting to life and work in Shanghai, Dr. Wong also enjoys music, his wife¡¯s dance(she is a dancer/choreographer), and reading. |

Dr. Vivian Wang (China)
Internal Medicine
Dr. Vivian Wang has worked as a physician for more than 10 years, after having received her medical degree from Shanghai Second Medical University. She is a member of the Shanghai Medical Association.
Dr. Wang works as an integral part of our medical team providing medical care in coordination with the medical center's general and family practitioners. Dr. Wang has a broad range of experience with special interest in Obesity and Diabetes. She is active in the Center's Health Screening Preventive Medical Program.
Dr. Wang's empathetic approach is appreciated by our patients. She is bilingual (English & Chinese) who enjoys her family life, traveling, gardening, reading, listening to pop music, and rearing fish. |

Dr. Vicky Xu (China)
Family Physician
Dr. Xu received her medical degree from Jiao Tong University. After completing her residency she was employed as part of a Cardiology team for 5 years in Shanghai.
In 2002 Dr. Xu moved to Singapore where she furthered her studies in Cardiology, General Medicine, Rehabilitation and Geriatrics at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. During this time Dr. Xu was certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Xu was awarded a Silver Medal by the Singapore Courage Fund for contribution during the SARS period as well as the Singapore National Silver Award 2005 for excellent service.
She joined the Shanghai East International Medical Center team in 2006. Her medical interests include cardiology, emergency medicine and medical care for elderly. Dr. Xu speaks English, Mandarin and Shanghainese.

Dr. Shubhangi Deshpande (India)
Internal Medicine
Dr. Deshpande comes to Shanghai East International Medical Center (SEIMC) with training and background in Internal Medicine and five years experience in intensive care services.
She received her degree in medicine in 1991 from the prestigious Grant Medical College in Mumbai, affiliated with the University of Bombay, India. She then completed her Internal Medicine specialization training in 1997, also from Grant Medical College.
Throughout Dr. Deshpande's career she has worked in the Grant Medical College Hospitals, the Hinduja National Hospital an Research Center, the Ramkrishna Missions Hospital in Mumbai and the Bhailal Amin Hospital in Baroda.
Dr. Deshpande provides on site night service for the inpatients of SEIMC.
She lives in Pudong with her husband and two children. She likes to spend her spare time with her children, participating in their school activities. She also enjoys sports.
