Health Tips

Warm up before you start physical activity. An ideal warm-up consists of exercises with gradually increasing intensity to a level similar to what you are about to do.

Stretching is best done after you have warmed up your muscles. Hold each position for 10-15 seconds and repeat 2-3 times.

Proper equipment helps protect you from injuries, and this includes things such as mouthguards, knee braces, ankle taping, etc. For women this also means a supportive sports bra.

Good techniques and skills are essential in preventing injuries. Stop training if you feel too tired to concentrate on what you are doing.

Sunscreens with SPF (Sun Protection Factor) 30+ are essential for protecting your skin against harmful UV rays in outdoor sports. You should reapply every 2-4 hours.

Drink plenty of water. You should drink up to 500ml per hour when you are doing intense exercises or working out in extreme heat.

RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) is first aid for simple soft tissue injuries such as sprained ligaments and strained muscles. Seek medical help if in doubt.

Consult a health professional (doctor, physiotherapist) if your symptoms are severe or persist for more than 2 days.
