In-patient care and day surgery services are available for emergencies, as well as on an elective basis. We recommend that you make an appointment whenever possible. However, primary care services are always available on an urgent basis, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our In-Patient Ward is located on the 12th floor of the building and can be accessed via the lobby elevators on the ground floor. Please check the signs and make sure that the elevator stops at the 12th floor before getting in. The In-Patient Ward is designed to handle a majority of medical conditions and has a fully-equipped operating theater, recovery area, delivery suite, isolation room, spacious in-patient rooms, and more.

Private and semi-private accommodation is available in our bright, comfortable in-patient rooms overlooking downtown Lujiazui. All rooms have patient monitors connected to our central monitoring system at the nurse station for additional safety. Each in-patient room has a bathroom, telephone, TV with English and Chinese programming, and wireless internet access. A crash cart and lifesaving resuscitation gear is on standby at the nurse station. As part of our commitment to providing you the latest evidence-based care, most of our doctors and nurses are certified ACLS providers following current American Heart Association 2005 ECC guidelines.

Our private delivery suite offers a warm and comfortable space where our midwives and obstetrician assist you through the normal birthing process. A baby warmer, bassinet, monitor, and birthing accessories are all located bedside. Fathers can stay in the room or the adjoining guest area during the labor and delivery process, unless the obstetrician advises against it. Caesarean deliveries are performed in our operating theater located on the same floor.

Shanghai East International Medical Center is the first foreign joint-venture hospital to establish a dedicated in-house operating theater (OT). Our state-of-the-art OT is a climate controlled, micron air filtered, laminar flow environment with a general anesthesia workstation suitable for most operative cases including general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, and more.

Recently, developments in minimally invasive surgery have reduced the post-operative complications and recovery time for certain types of operations. To stay current with these trends, we have also equipped our OT with the latest arthroscopy, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, cystocopy, and nasopharyngoscopy equipment.

Cutting edge imaging services are performed using a top-of-the-line GE Revolution XR/d digital x-ray suite with a 2 detector configuration, the best-in-class GE Senographe 2000D digital mammography suite, and a Phil ips HDI color Doppler ultrasound unit. An advanced laboratory in-house processes most standard tests and a fully-stocked pharmacy provides a thorough range of pharmacy items for your medical needs.

Advanced imaging studies can be performed down the hall from our Clinic in the Shanghai East Hospital imaging department. Equipped with a brand-new Phil ips 3.0T MRI unit and a brand-new Phil ips 64-slice CT, the best MRI and CT units presently available, extremely detailed and accurate scans can be performed more comfortably and in significantly less time than older models.
