Dr. Zhongmin Liu (China)
Cardiac Surgeon, Co-Professor of Paris Descartes University, Licensed physician in Germany and France

Dr. Liu is the President of Shanghai East Hospital, Chairman of the Board of Shanghai East International Medical Center (SEIMC), Director of Sino-German Heart Center, Co-Professor at University of Paris Descartes, a Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Congress on Disaster and Trauma Medicine, and a committee member for the Chinese Medical Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.

Dr. Liu specializes in congenital heart disease, rheumatic valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and the transplantation of hearts and lungs for serious cases. Dr. Liu has diagnosed and treated many cases and has performed various cardiac surgeries including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for expatriate and local patients. He has been the principal medical specialist and leads medical backup teams for visiting high officials including presidents from USA, the late premier of Singapore, Mr. Juan A. Samaranch, the late Chairman of Olympic Games was one of his patients.

Dr. Feng Wan (China)
Cardiologist

Dr. Feng Wan graduated from Hunan Medical College and received further training as a foreign clinical surgeon at the School of Medicine, Paris 12th University in France for 2 years. He continued his overseas journey of surgical training at the School of Medicine, Yale University USA as a visiting scholar in cardiovascular research laboratory for 6 months.

In 1991, Dr. Wan was invited by Prof. Albert Starr, a world famous surgeon known as the “Father of Heart Valve Surgery”, to work as a Visiting Professor at Oregon Health Science University, and also as a Clinical Cardiac Surgery Fellow at the Heart Institute of St. Vincent Hospital & Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. He also spent 6 months in the University Hospital of Western Ontario University as a Clinical Cardiopulmonary Transplant Fellow. He returned to China in 1996 where he was appointed the Chairman and Professor of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, People’s Hospital, Peking University in Beijing.

Dr. Wan is a pioneer in many areas in cardiovascular surgery including off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB), trans-myocardial laser revascularization (TMLR), heart failure surgery and artificial heart ventricular assist device (VAD). He established the first western-style semi-private medical professional service organization (Doctor’s Group) in China and his service network has been spreading to over 50 hospitals throughout the country. His contributions and achievements in medical science and clinical research won him awards such as the “First-Grade Award of National Science and Technology Advancement”. In 2013, he won the title of “Academician of National Academy of Surgery of France”.  He interviewed by international and domestic media including the Wall Street Journal, Far Eastern Economic Review, Discovery ChannelCCTV, etc. (“Beating Heart Bypass Pioneer”, “Heart Menders, Ground Breakers”)

Dr. Wan’s other professional positions include Chairman of Chinese Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons; Chief Editor of Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Research; Chairman of College of Cardiovascular Surgery at Peking University Health Science Center; Director of  Department of Cardiac Surgery - Shanghai East Hospital; Chairman of Sino-Heart Healthcare Group; President of Starr-Wood Cardiac Group, China; CEO of Qingdao Starr International Heart Hospital and Starr International Health Group, Ltd.

Dr. Qi Zhang (China)
Cardiologist

Dr. Zhang completed his medical degree at Shanghai Second Medical University in 2002. Soon thereafter he joined a one-year research program at the Texas Heart Institute and enrolled at Shanghai Jiaotong University in a Ph.D. program whereby he studied the effects of cardiovascular drugs and drug-releasing material and their effects on cardiac survival.

Dr. Zhang is specialized in the field of interventional cardiology, which consists of valve repair surgery, angioplasty, and congenital heart defect correction and so on. Dr. Zhang has performed critical research in the field of interventional cardiology and has published over 50 scientific articles. He continues to do research and is often invited as a visiting professor.

He speaks Mandarin and English.

   
Dr.Xiaodong Feng(China)
Cardiovascular Surgery

Dr. Xiaodong Feng graduated from Shanxi Medical University. He has more than 30 years of professional and clinical experience. In 2000, he went to Russia as a senior visiting scholar at the Academician E.N. Meshalkin State Research Institute of Circulation Pathology Federal Agency for Health Care & Social Development.

Dr. Feng specializes in Aortic Aneurysms and Surgery, Cardiac Care and Surgeries including for Pediatrics, Cardiomyopathy, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Complex Aortic Root Surgery, Congenital Heart Disease – Adult and Pediatric, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Surgery, Heart Bypass, Heart Failure, Marfan Syndrome, Valvular Heart Surgery.

Dr. Feng was awarded as an Excellent Doctor in Shanghai from the year 2006 to 2008. He is an editor of the Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Review; Board member of Chinese Society of Cardiothoracic &Vascular Surgery; National board member of Cardiothoracic &Vascular Surgery Division of Chinese Medical Doctor Association; Academic board member of Thoracoscopic Committee, Cardiac Critical Care Committee, Heart Failure Committee, Interventional Therapy Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association.

Dr. Yunli Shen (China)
Cardiologist

Dr. Shen graduated from Shanghai Fudan University with a PhD doctoral degree in cardiology, and further studied at the University of Nebraska Medical Center USA. She received strict and systematic clinical training and developed advanced medical skills.

She is experienced in diagnosis and treatment of critical diseases in addition to common and frequently occurring diseases in cardiology. Her involvement in the work in CICU (cardiac intensive care unit) elevated her capability in treating patients with diseases of hypertension and coronary heart problems. She is keen on electrocardiology and good at performing and analyzing medical imagings of ECG, CTA, etc of high-risk and complex conditions.

Dr. Shen’s scientific research achievements include high-leveled NSFC projects. She has published over a dozen of papers in SCI, co-edited works in English, and participated as penal speaker in meidcal conferences.

Dr. Shen is the tutor for students studying for master’s degree in cardiology.
