Dr. Meidong Xu (China)
Chief Gastroenterology Physician

Dr. Xu is one of the pioneers and leaders to promote the new and rapid development of technologies in treating gastrointestinal diseases in China and even worldwide. He obtained PhD and MD degrees in surgery from Fudan University and was a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong - Prince of Wales Hospital, Emory University Hospital, and the BIDMC (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center) affiliated to Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Xu invented and carried out series techniques in the treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer, precancerous lesions, achalasia, performing catheter and stent treatment of acute complete colorectal obstruction, transnasal tube and stent placement. He also specializes in the treatment of various complex biliary and pancreatic diseases, sclerotherapy and band ligation of esophageal varices, refractory gastrointestinal tract obstruction, submucosal tumors of the digestive tract, and diagnosis and treatment of various difficult digestive diseases.

He published dozens of papers in SCI . He is the Editor-in-chief of monographs. He has won science and technology awards of provincial and ministerial level; undertaken general programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key programs of the Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, and so on. He is the deputy director of the Digestive Surgery Committee of the Health Exchange and Cooperation across the Taiwan Straits.

Dr. Xu organizes international academic conferences, and has attended international academic conferences in the USA, Italy, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Greece, India, etc. He advocates new technologies and theories at home and abroad through giving speeches and demonstrating operations, and has maintained a good international reputation.

Dr. Tao Chen (China)
Associate Chief Gastroenterology Physician

Dr. Chen graduated from Fudan University with a Doctor's degree in surgery. He completed specialist training in general surgery and endoscopy. From 2012 to 2014, he studied cancer research and clinical translation in Texas University M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in the United States.

Dr. Chen is the associate chief physician, professor, doctoral supervisor, and deputy director of Digestive Endoscopy Center. He has more than 10 years of clinical experience in general surgery and endoscopy. He is experienced in various endoscopic diagnosis and treatment techniques and early gastrointestinal cancer screening technology; endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal polyps, precancerous lesions and early cancer; diagnosis of gastrointestinal submucosal tumors and endoscopic minimally invasive resection (ESD, EFTR, STER, etc.); Diagnosis and treatment of esophageal motility disorders (POEM, etc.); ERCP, drainage and stent placement for various obstructive jaundice; Endoscopic dilation and stent therapy for gastrointestinal obstruction and stenosis.

He was selected as Excellent Academic Leader and Outstanding Young Doctor of Shanghai. He is also the member of Digestive Endoscopy Society of Chinese Medical Association, the member of Translational Medicine Professional Group of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and the member of the Executive Committee of US-China anti-Cancer Association.

Dr. Haibin Zhang (China)
Gastroenterology Physician

Dr. Haibin Zhang worked in anesthesia and later switched to digestive endoscopy after graduation. He has rich anesthesia experience and solid endoscopic skills, proficient in various techniques such as endoscopic resection, hemostasis, ERCP, EUS, etc. He is skilled in digestive endoscopy and various endoscopic treatments; Endoscopic resection techniques (ESD, EFR, STER, POEM, NOTES, etc.) for early gastrointestinal tumors such as mucosal lesions and submucosal masses; ERCP and treatment techniques such as gallstones, tumors, purulent cholangitis, obstructive jaundice, chronic pancreatitis, etc; Placement of stents and decompression tubes for the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, colon, etc; Various hemostasis methods under endoscopy (such as esophageal and gastric variceal ligation, sclerotherapy, etc.); Endoscopic treatment of appendicitis, removal of various gastrointestinal polyps.

Dr. Zhang is a member of the Imaging Collaboration Group of the Digestive Endoscopy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and a member of the ESD Group of the Shanghai Digestive Endoscopy Branch. He has participated in multiple domestic endoscopic early cancer competitions and won the first place in the Shanghai region and the third prize in China. His research topic is a comparison of the effects of streptomycin and dimethylsilicone oil powder on the detection rate of early cancer in gastroscopy examination.
